Mayor Advises “Don’t Panic!”

Village of South Blooming Grove Officials have been receiving calls from Village residents asking about the Notice of Change of Assessment letters they recently received.  Village Mayor, Robert Jeroloman and the Village Board of Trustees want to reassure Village residents that the vast majority of your properties have not been reassessed.  In most cases, your current assessment values are the same as the last assessment value on record with the Town.  The Town Assessor, advised us that the Orange County Department of Real Property sent the letters simply to inform Village residents of their new Section, Block and Lot numbers, which were assigned as mandated since incorporation of the Village on July 14, 2006.  The “Prior Assessed Value” appears as zero (0) because the Village did not exist before its incorporation date so it has no prior record of assessment values.   

We strongly encourage all who received these notices to keep them for your own records. In addition, we suggest you make a copy to send to your mortgage company advising it of the change in Section, Block and Lot numbers.
